Planning a Romantic Event

A relationship can require a lot of effort to keep both you and your partner satisfied. Part of the challenge is coming up with new and fun ideas to keep the relationship interesting. Your partner means a lot to you, so you want to put forth the time and effort to do it right. Planning an event is a great way to rekindle the fire, and bring you and your partner even closer together. It is also the perfect opportunity to create wonderful memories that will last, and to express how much your partner means to you. So let go, have fun and be creative!

Before you get started, you will want to consider a few things about your partner. It is easy to forget that your partner is not an extension of yourself. How many times have you referred to your partner as your “other half?” It is understandable that you would feel that way, because in many circumstances they have proven to be exactly that. Being that your partner is so much like you in many ways is probably an important factor in your reason for loving them. Therefore, many people make the mistake of planning an event around what they feel would be ideal, and not what their partner feels is ideal. So that you may better understand what your partner may feel is ideal, we have listed some areas to consider when planning your event.

Expectations
While planning, you should have some idea about how elaborate you want the event to be. Make sure it will satisfy both you and your partner’s romantic expectations. You really don’t want to miss the target with this. If your idea of a romantic activity and your partner’s don’t match, it could spell disaster. Here is an example of what I mean: It’s your 10 year anniversary, and you would like to stay home, order a pizza and watch a movie. However, your partner has a completely different opinion about how the occasion should be honored. Maybe your partner would prefer to go out for a night on the town. This could potentially cause some debate between you and your partner on how to celebrate. Which is also an example of the importance of communicating such events with your partner and planning ahead.

Time
Timing is extremely important! Be sure to ask yourself if this is an event that you or your partner will need to take away from work to do together. If so, be sure to choose dates that won’t cause much conflict with work. The last thing you want is for you or your partner to be stressing about how business is going while you should be enjoying this time together. So choose the least stressful time to take away from work and reserve that date. If you are naturally a
procrastinator, try not to choose a date too far in the future. The farther away the activity is scheduled, the less likely it is that you will actually follow through with it. It may also help if you tell someone who will make sure you go through with it as planned.

Money
When you begin planning your event, it’s a good idea to get a ballpark figure of how much money you are comfortable spending. How comfortable will your partner be with this figure? Yes, they may possibly have an idea of how much you are spending, especially if you share financial information. It is important to consider what your partner may feel as “excessive!” You don’t want to ruin what could be a cherished moment by discussing expenses. You also don’t want to be broke in the end because you spent well over your means. There are plenty of events and activities you can arrange on little or no budget.
